About the Role
We have an opportunity for an experienced and pragmatic Engineering Controller to join our Engineering and Maintenance Delivery team and be responsible for monitoring and responding to all power, tunnel ventilation and station infrastructure assets. This role will process requests for electrical outages, create and approve switching instructions and be instrumental in coordinating field resources to enable the safe operation of engineering equipment.
Reporting to the Head of Response and Engineering Monitoring, this critical role will work closely with peers to manage the efficient monitoring of the central and related control systems for alarms affecting operational railway equipment ensuring relevant response staff and maintainers are notified in a timely manner.
This role involves working on a 24/7 rotating roster, which includes working nights, weekends, and public holidays. A competitive remuneration is on offer.
Desired Skills and Experience
Key Responsibilities include:
Maintain contact and regular updates with maintenance crews performing preventative and corrective maintenance on site and provide this information with System and Infrastructure Response (SIR) Staff as well as relevant parties in the Operations Control Centre (OCC).
Drive efficient monitoring and control of traction power supply as well as both high and low voltage power distribution systems along the operational network overseeing power supply performance to meet MTS’s KPI’s, including restoring the power supply network during failure to minimise train services disruption and controlling electricity maximum demand drawn from five bulk supply points (BSPs)
Manage efficient monitoring and control of Environmental Control Systems and other trackside auxiliaries overseeing their performance and ensuring MTS’s KPIs are met.
Manage operation of appropriate ventilation modes during emergencies to protect passengers and staff from fire and smoke.
About You
You will hold a qualification in electrotechnology and/or have extensive demonstrated industry experience working in an operational control centre within railway operations, transport & logistics and/or previous relevant experience in a safety regulated position. You are technically very proficient in managing power control equipment and can remain calm and composed during emergency situations to enable the most suitable resolution.
