About the Role

MTS is currently seeking applications for the role of Asset Engineering Technician (AET) – Communications and Control Systems, to join the Engineering and Maintenance Delivery team in Tallawong. This role will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of corrective and preventative maintenance and renewals tasks. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of TMP based maintenance for Communication and Control System inspections which includes such items as radio systems, passenger displays & announcements, ticketing systems, video monitoring, telephony, and central clock certification tasks against contract requirements and delivery schedule.
  • Identifying and actioning opportunities for improvement across the service provision of maintenance service providers including in the areas of TMP compliance, efficiency, quality of work, use of Ellipse.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance in a timely and prompt manner.
  • Maintain positive relationships, influence and negotiate with key stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in safety talks and other team safety activities.
  • Review and assist in the preparation of SWMS and safety plans, ensuring that methods always identify good practice in safety and efficiency.

This role will be based at Tallawong with flexibility to work from our depot in Sydenham.

This role will involve day and night shifts with uplift paid on night shifts. Weekend work is also required of up to two (2) Sundays per month with shift allowance payable.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

About You 

You are an experienced and proactive professional with 3-5 years demonstrated work experience in the maintenance of communication (radio & telecommunications) and control-based systems, ideally gained in rail and/or large infrastructure projects. You will be experienced in inspecting and certifying with the strong ability to identify root cause and contributing factor(s) while developing SMART remedial outcomes.

You also have excellent IT skills with experience in configuration, maintaining and troubleshooting networking infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls in an OT environment coupled with the maintenance of system documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, and operational and maintenance procedures. Scripting skills such as Perl or Python is desirable.

With excellent verbal communication skills and good time management abilities, you can prioritise tasks to achieve agreed objectives and timeframes and always to a high standard.
