Job Description
In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining and improving critical rail electrical systems, ensuring safe, reliable and high performing operations across the network. Working closely with the Delivery Lead, you will support the ongoing performance and reliability of the Overhead Wiring & Electrical network. You’ll be involved in both maintaining existing assets and supporting the introduction of new infrastructure.
This is a hands-on, field-based role with a mix of office work, requiring flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver planned and corrective maintenance activities
Perform fault finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting on electrical assets
Support preventative and emergency maintenance across the network
Act as an on site supervisor and key contact for contractors
Ensure all work is completed safely and with minimal operational disruption
Maintain tools, equipment and asset condition data
Accurately capture maintenance activities in asset management systems
Support defect remediation and new asset integration
Analyse asset condition data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Desired Skills and Experience
You’re a proactive and technically capable professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. You bring strong experience in rail electrical systems and enjoy solving complex problems while working independently and also as part of a team.
Essential experience and Qualifications:
Minimum5 years’ post-trade experience in rail overhead wiring
Experience with conductor rail systems
Certificate III (or higher) in:
Electrical – Traction Power Systems, or
Electrical – Distribution Power Systems, or equivalent
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
MEL53 certification (TfNSW)
Track Machine Operator qualification
Working at Heights certification
Heavy Vehicle Licence (MR/HR/HC)
Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certification
