Job Description
We’re seeking an experienced Engineering & Maintenance Delivery Trainer to deliver high‑quality technical training and competency assessments across our Engineering & Maintenance Division.
This role is ideal for a rail or maintenance professional who is passionate about capability building, safety and translating technical requirements into practical, effective training.
About the Role
Reporting to the Learning & Development Manager, you will deliver and coordinate technical training to ensure employees are competent, compliant and capable of safely maintaining rail infrastructure and rolling stock assets.
You’ll work closely with engineering leaders, maintenance teams and subject‑matter experts to identify skills gaps, deliver targeted training solutions and support a strong safety‑first culture.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver technical training across Rolling Stock, Track & Civil, Electrical Systems, Communications & Control and Engineering Monitoring
Conduct competency assessments, including initial, refresher, remedial and Verification of Competency (VOC)
Maintain accurate training and competency records in LMS and competency systems
Support testing and commissioning activities through targeted technical training
Identify skills gaps and work with discipline leads on training solutions
Support internal and external audits related to competency compliance
Provide coaching and technical support where performance gaps are identified

You are a capable and adaptable technical professional who enjoys developing others and making a practical impact in a safety‑critical environment. You bring credibility from hands on experience and the ability to connect with people at all levels of the business.
You don’t need to have trained across every discipline; what matters most is your ability to translate technical knowledge into clear, engaging and compliant training that supports safe, effective maintenance outcomes.
You are confident working independently, comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, and proactive in identifying skills gaps and improvement opportunities. Above all, you value safety, accountability and continuous learning.
You will bring:
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) or willingness to obtain the following qualifications:NSW A‑Grade Electrical Licence or equivalent recognised electrical trade qualification + Protection Officer Level 4 (PO4) certification
Experience in a rail engineering or maintenance environment
Experience delivering technical training and assessing competency in a regulated industry
Strong understanding of Rail Safety and WHS legislation
