Job Description

Metro Trains Sydney is looking for an experienced Maintenance Lead - Communications & Control to oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of maintenance services across a complex operational environment.

This role is responsible for leading internal teams and managing external service providers to ensure maintenance activities are delivered in line with contract requirements, operational priorities, and Metro Trains Sydney standards.

About the Opportunity

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor the performance of maintenance service providers against contractual and operational requirements
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve service delivery, compliance, efficiency, quality and safety
  • Lead maintenance delivery through internal resources and contractors to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently
  • Support the planning, project management, methodology and on-site implementation of works
  • Monitor quality outcomes and ensure corrective actions are taken where required
  • Contribute to safety and technical investigations, risk assessments and improvement initiatives
  • Support annual work planning, budgeting and detailed delivery planning
  • Ensure compliance with the Technical Maintenance Plan, safety systems, environmental requirements and Metro Trains Sydney standards
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture across all maintenance activities

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in contractor and stakeholder management in a public-facing, safety-critical environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple disciplines and contractors
  • Proven experience managing high value contracts
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance service delivery, work planning and operational safety
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across all levels of the business
  • Strong risk assessment, problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • The ability to work independently while keeping leaders informed of operational issues
  • Qualifications in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications or IT
