About the Role
We are looking for a Human Factors Specialist to join our Safety, Quality, Risk and Enviroment (SQRE) team.
This role provides expert human factors and ergonomics advice across our operations, projects and systems helping to improve safety, reduce risk and enhance performance across the network.
You’ll play a key role in embedding human centred design and human factors principles into the way we work, ensuring our systems and operations to support safe and efficient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist human factors and ergonomics advice across operational and project environments
Support the integration of human factors principles into system design, change initiatives and operations
Identify risks, trends and improvement opportunities through analysis and research
Contribute to the development of human factors standards, frameworks, and guidance
Prepare high quality reports, briefings and technical advice for stakeholders
Support hazard identification, risk assessments and safety assurance activities
Partner with internal teams to embed human centred design and risk controls
Maintain awareness of emerging human factors practices and industry trends
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You are a thoughtful and analytical human factors professional who thrives in complex, safety critical environments.
You will bring:
Tertiary qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, Engineering, or similar
Experience applying human factors in rail, transport, infrastructure, or other high risk industries
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Understanding of safety management systems and regulated environments
