About Metro Trains Sydney (MTS)
MTS are the proud operators and maintainers of the M1 Northwest and Bankstown Line with the new City section now operational. We run a fully automated passenger railway – an Australian first. We connect our customers to opportunities that matter to them while delivering the next generation of rail travel to Sydney. With global expertise, we manage 51.5km of track and 21 stations, with a planned expansion into southwest Sydney.
Metro Trains Sydney is looking for an experienced Manager Stakeholder & Community Engagement to lead the planning and delivery of stakeholder relations and community engagement across our network. This is a highly visible Corporate Affairs role where you will help strengthen MTS’ connection with customers, communities, government partners and industry stakeholders.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, you will coordinate and deliver engagement initiatives that identify emerging issues, support proactive communication and position MTS as an active member of the communities it serves. You will work across internal operations, customer experience, senior leaders and external partners including Sydney Metro Authority, Transport for NSW, industry groups and local community networks.
About the role
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across complex stakeholder environments and can balance strategic planning with hands on delivery. You will support the Stakeholder and Community Involvement Plan, contribute to the corporate calendar and ensure engagement activities are coordinated, well planned and aligned to MTS’ strategic priorities.
What you’ll do
- Develop and deliver a 12-month calendar of stakeholder and community engagement initiatives aligned to MTS’ strategic priorities.
- Identify, manage and respond to stakeholder and community issues across the line, ensuring matters are addressed proactively and consistently.
- Act as a key connection point between MTS and community stakeholders, including attending precinct meetings and supporting ongoing community relationships.
- Maintain and update stakeholder registers to support effective relationship management and engagement planning.
- Coordinate community events, customer activations at stations, stakeholder briefings and site visits as required.
- Develop clear, fit-for-purpose communication materials including presentations, briefing content and external stakeholder updates.
- Drive consistency of messaging through master presentation materials and support for external presentations.
- Support the broader Corporate Affairs team with content development, media issues, incident management and rostered on-call requirements when needed.

About you
You are an experienced stakeholder engagement or communications professional who builds trusted relationships across complex environments. You bring strong judgement, excellent communication skills and the ability to influence senior leaders, government partners, community groups and internal teams. You are comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on delivery, adapting quickly to changing priorities and managing sensitive issues with confidence.
