We run a fully automated passenger railway – an Australian first.  We connect our customers to opportunities that matter to them while delivering the next generation of rail travel to Sydney. Job Description

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Interface Engineer to join our Engineering and Maintenance Delivery (EMD) team.

In this role, you will coordinate and manage interfaces with external stakeholders, ensuring their activities do not adversely impact MTS infrastructure, safety, or network reliability.

You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining Interface Agreements between third-party assets and those managed by MTS.

This is a full-time, 6-month fixed term opportunity.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with MTS, external stakeholders, and maintenance service providers to negotiate, coordinate, and document agreements that support MTS business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain Interface Agreements for assets and activities at the rail corridor boundary, defining ownership, maintenance responsibilities, and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain operating and maintenance protocols and related interface arrangements.
  • Manage maintenance interfaces between external parties and MTS, including ARTC and Sydney Trains and resolve issues that may affect existing arrangements or agreements.
  • Review existing interface agreements and operational protocols to support effective coordination and integration.
  • Liaise with external parties and internal stakeholders across Engineering, Maintenance and Legal on easement, ownership, and interface related matters.
  • Manage and support the close out of external interface issues and concerns.
  • Support the Defects team in managing interface related issues that arise during the Defects Liability Period (DLP).
  • Support South West asset handover, hand-back, and acceptance activities to enable transition into operations.
  • Provide broader support across Engineering and Maintenance Delivery as required to help coordinate interfaces with external stakeholders.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

You have extensive experience in interface management, with demonstrated capability in coordinating complex stakeholder requirements across project, operational, and maintenance environments. Experience in the rail industry will be highly regarded.

You will be confident building strong relationships, influencing outcomes, and working collaboratively with senior stakeholders across private and public sector organisations in a rail engineering and operating environment.

What’s on Offer

We are offering a 6-month fixed term opportunity with flexible working options and access to a wide range of benefits and much more, including Fitness Passport and Maxia car leasing.

We are delivering the future of train travel today and it all starts with our people – positive mindsets with an ‘anything-is-possible’ approach. The MTS team is rewriting all the expectations.

If you are energised and enthused by the prospect of working in a fast-paced, future-focused environment, then let’s talk!
